Kwakwaka'wakw Hereditary Chiefs Confederation

WHO WE ARE

OUR VISION

'Awinakola

Unity of all hereditary Chiefs, interwoven in preserving our old ways, governing our lands, oceans, and sky. In order to heal ourselves, we need to heal our lands. As we work to restore and sustain our resources, we ensure our constitutional and treaty rights are adhered to.

Our Mission

Passing Along What Sustains Us

We seek involvement and guidance from our Chiefs and Matriarchs in every program and initiative we carry forward: passing along traditional knowledge, language teachings, harvesting and preservation practices for food security, understanding of territorial boundaries, and ocean and land management, all as we affirm our constitutional and treaty rights and the historical knowledge that guides our next generations.

The Kwakwaka'wakw Hereditary Chiefs Confederation (KHCC) is a society representing 18 Kwakwaka'wakw Nation hereditary Chiefs and Matriarchs, led by Head Hereditary Chief David Knox of the Kwakiutl First Nation.
